Weight Gain May Not Be From Too Much Food

Don’t Be a Fool-Eat For Fuel!

Today brothers and sisters I want to speak to you from the pulpit about one of the most important bits of wisdom I can share with you and that is NEVER EVER GIVE UP! Putting your health first and staying with a healthy eating and fitness plan is the most important thing you can do for yourself no matter what the scale says. Trust me when I tell you I know how frustrating it can be and how long that road can feel (I’ve only lost 4 lbs in four months and I still have over 60 to go). But I also know equally as well just how good it feels to work on getting healthy, have more energy since I’ve lost over 90 lbs so far.

If you efforts are getting frustrated and it feels like you have hit a brick wall, remember sometimes the body needs a rests and it will start losing again (so don’t give up!). But it is important to be aware of other causes for weight gain or lack of weight loss, because it could be caused by an underlying medical condition - so make sure you are getting regular check ups and discussing how you feel with your doctor.

Soy hot dogs and stone ground mustard (review)

Posted by Lady Rose on September 28, 2007

In my quest to get adequate protein and healthy good food I am trying new things. My first goal is find what I can at the super market since those are the most convenient to purchase on a regular basis.  Here was a tasty find I encountered the other day.

Light Life Smart Dogs - soy hot dogs, found in the fresh produce aisle next to the salad items. Of the soy hot dogs there these were the lowest in calories (55 calories each) and still offered the same protein (9 grams each).

Ingredients: Made from water, soy protein isolate, wheat gluten, evaporated cane juice, salt, yeast extract, soy sauce (water, soybeans, wheat, salt), granulated garlic, carrageenan, spice extracts, natural flavors (from vegetable sources), vegetable gum, natural liquid smoke flavor, potassium chloride, tomato pulp. No nitrites. No MSG. Certified Vegan.

I decided I needed a good mustard to go with it so I tried Eden Organic Brown Mustard, Squeeze Bottle, 9 Ounces (Pack of 12)“>Eden Organic Brown Mustard (stone ground with apple cider vinegar) 0 fat, 0 sugar, 0 calories.  Ingredients: Organic Whole Mustard Seed, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Water, Eden Sea Salt

From Chef Tom:  I enjoy a fresh pesto sauce now and again. For my birthday this year, my girlfriend Katie took me into Manhattan for dinner and a show. We ate at this nice little Italian restaurant. For our appetizer we ordered fresh tomato and mozzarella. They served it with a little drop of pesto that was just amazing. The aroma was heavenly!

Fresh BasilEarlier this week I shared a recipe for Chicken Portobello on my blog which called for some pesto. A few of my readers have asked for a healthy pesto recipe, so here it is!
